Search for the USS Grunion - Lost WWII Submarine near Kiska Alaska

Friday, October 03 2008 - UnderAware Blog

This week the wreckage of Steve Faucet's plane was found, over a year after he flew off and was not heard from again.  The anguish of the loss, the "not knowing" must be a very heavy burden, but now his family has a better idea of what may have happened and hopefully that helps.

Now imagine that your loved one, a husband, brother, son or boyfriend disappeared over 65 years ago, and what if someone came to you and said we now know where they disappeared?  This is what has happened because three sons of  the Grunion's Skipper never gave up.  Couple that with some luck and the wealth of information at our fingertips through the Internet and they have been able to complete two missions over the now confirmed wreckage of USS Grunion SS 216.

Peace be with the lost crew, their friends and families, and to the sons of Lt Cmdr Abele, your father has to be very proud of you. Well Done and keep looking for the remaining answers!
