Troop Abuse?

Thursday, January 15 2009 - UnderAware Blog

There is Gitmo, there is Abu Grab, the Secret (if we know about them then I guess they are not secret) CIA Prisons

The media and anti-war crowd (really now how many people are really pro-war?) are always bringing up evil examples of the military, the question is can they (the media et al) take a joke that has humor in it directed at themselves.  I doubt it.  But look, reflect, be proud, be grateful, be thankful, support them AND their mission(s) (you can not do one and rebuke the other)

When next you see a young person in uniform at the store, in a restaurant, walking the street, say “excuse me” and “Thank-You”.  When you see an experienced citizen (I’m getting there aren’t I?) wearing a hat from their bygone days, an Airborne Unit, Ship or otherwise, again, say “excuse me” and “Thank-You”.  If you have the time you might want to ask them about their past service, you might enjoy the education.  Fewer and fewer of our Greatest Generation roam the streets of our hometown, but when I see them I will at the very least say a pleasant hello and thank you.

Most of these photos and captions are parody, a jab back at the people that think the military is evil, the people that extol the virtues of Free Speech, yet don’t realize that the military is the guard for that vault, the vault which also contains all of our other freedoms and liberties.

Most, but not all……. the two at the bottom….. not because that is what they are rated, if anything they should be front and center, if anything they should be pictures scorched into the very being of any person that is or seeks to be called a Citizen of this Nation, of course the fast food, feel good, I tried my hardest folks won’t have that.  The two at the bottom are different, they are very far from funny.  Again I want you to be proud of the two soldiers at the bottom of the page, but more importantly I want you to read about the bottom soldier, Joseph Dwyer, read about him and reflect.  This effects you directly in so many ways, are you willing to admit that?

Proof of abuse by our Troops.

No comment here. There's nothing funny about this one.

From the Associated Press FOLLOW THIS LINK AND READ THE ENTIRE STORY  (Please)

PINEHURST, N.C. - Officers had been to the white ranch house at 560 W. Longleaf many times before over the past year to respond to a "barricade situation." Each had ended uneventfully, with Joseph Dwyer coming out or telling police in a calm voice through the window that he was OK.

But this time was different.

The Iraq war veteran had called a taxi service to take him to the emergency room. But when the driver arrived, Dwyer shouted that he was too weak to get up and open the door.

The officers asked Dwyer for permission to kick it in.

"Go ahead!" he yelled.

They found Dwyer lying on his back, his clothes soiled with urine and feces. Scattered on the floor around him were dozens of spent cans of Dust-Off, a refrigerant-based aerosol normally used to clean electrical equipment.

Dwyer told police Lt. Mike Wilson he'd been "huffing" the aerosol.

"Help me, please!" the former Army medic begged Wilson. "I'm dying. Help me. I can't breathe."

Unable to stand or even sit up, Dwyer was hoisted onto a stretcher. As paramedics prepared to load him into an ambulance, an officer noticed Dwyer's eyes had glassed over and were fixed.

A half hour later, he was dead.

This blog was originally set up as a way for me to point out things about our military, their “benefits”, the abuse they suffer because of a Congress that ignores them in good times and blames them in bad.

Joseph Dwyer in the picture above and in the AP Story (Follow the Link! Read It!) is the embodiment of everything that is good and right with our military, and at the same time how that same military is being neglected by Congress, some would say intentionally.

I hear the cry for Healthcare for everyone, read this story, this is how Congress runs healthcare for the military, do you want a piece of this pie?

The story is a very tough read, but a must read, you know the ending, help write a new beginning.  This Country was founded on Principles, and I’ve seen more and more of these Principles eroded away to nothing and the cycle appears, at least to me to be increasing in frequency and ferocity.  If you feel that there is something to be done, about the treatment of the Military, health care, social security, roads, energy, whatever the thing that you feel is not being done right.  Work to get it back on track, this Nation is our Nation, it does not belong to a President, or a Congressman, or a Senator, they are nothing more than employees, if they attempt to treat you like an uneducated rube then rebuke them forcefully until such point as they listen to We The People.

Let me end my Homily with this:

Lord God, you are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.  You hold in your hands the keys of life and death.  You remain with us and continue to love us in life and in death.  Please help Joseph now to trust in your goodness and to claim your promise of life everlasting through Jesus Christ who died for our sins and was raised for our justification. Cleanse him of all sin and remove all burdens.  May you in your perfect timing welcome him into your loving arms in your peaceful, heavenly kingdom. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with him now and on into eternity. Amen.

Joseph Dwyer, you and I have never crossed paths, for that I am sorry, but excuse me, I just wanted to say Thank You for your service to our Country, and I’m so very proud of you and so very sorry that our system failed you so utterly and completely.

May the Good Lord bless every one of our troops wherever they are!
