Finally the hurricane damage has been repaired enough to allow the power to be restored to an elderly woman's home. So? Think about it, when was the last hurricane that hit Florida? It would be 2005. But this lady's house wasn't damaged in 2005, it was damaged by hurricane Andrew in August 1992.
You have to read the news piece linked above. Could you do this? Cold showers for 15 years? Live off of an extension cord from a neighbor to run a small fridge and a light? My question was where were the neighbors? Thank goodness someone finally noticed and helped this poor woman get her power restored, but heck, do you know your neighbors well enough to pick up on if there is a problem like this, and would you help? I hope so.
