Yet another source of global warming.

Al's back, but unfortunately he's out of refills.....

Ever since he lost the election, when I see Al Gore he reminds me of characters in whack job movies, like "Fatal Attraction", "The Shining", "Finding Nemo".

Well, he's at it again, he doesn't want to be President any more, but he wants to show George Bush that he not only was wrong about Florida, but he's wrong about global warming as well. Al has a new movie out, Yes Al, on the silver screen. (IMAX would be better, that way you get the full effect of his homily) The movie is called 'An Inconvenient Truth', directed by [wikipedia:Davis_Guggenheim], and starring our beloved former (emphasis on that) Vice President.

From the AOL Moviefone Guide

What the Movie's About: This captivating documentary chronicles former Vice President Al Gore's career-long crusade to raise awareness about -- and stem the tide of -- the potentially catastrophic effects of global warming.

Here's the Buzz: The positive hype surrounding 'Truth' has caused something other than the climate to heat up, namely Gore's political career. Although Gore officially retired from politics in 2000, pundits are already speculating that the ex-Veep could ride the film's coattails into the 2008 Presidential race. Nothing 'Inconvenient' about that.

Oh goody, another Crusade, can't have enough of those, although the Monty Python version of crusades tend to be more entertaining, and probably a little more factual. About his political aspirations, perhaps someone can talk to him (probably not, since he'd have to stop talking, put the switch to the listen and comprehend position, and put the ego into a shoebox for a while, nah, don't see that happening).

For those that are new to UnderAware, here's the nickel tour of my beliefs in global warming. Is the atmosphere warming and/or changing? Yes. It has always been changing, it is dynamic and will always be moving in one direction or another, it will never stay the same. Has it ever been warmer on the earth (in the past 10,000 years or so)? Yes, long before the industrial revolution. Do I believe that the internal combustion engine is the root of all evil, and the cause for global warming? Not really, it might contribute, but I think the Hot Air Alarmists (HAA for short), are missing either out of choice, or ignorance, many points in their argument. For instance, as I said above, it has been warmer before, and colder. Dynamic, it changes. The question is what causes the changes. Yes if you build up "green house gases", like the CO2 coming from the bloviating Al Gore, you could conceivable cause warming but are there any other possible sources?

What if the energy output of the sun changed? After all there is the [wikipedia:Solar_cycle]. What if this has more to do with transmitting radio waves through the atmosphere than flatulance? What if by cutting down trees and paving roads and parking lots we are causing warming, not by burning oil? What about natural earth functions, what if we are seeing the natural cycle of earth temperatures? As in since the temperature will not stay at one point so it goes up until something (read melting of the ice masses) causes it to turn, then the temperature drops until something again forces a turn back up. (read the ice masses are reformed and the temperature will turn).

Do I have all the answers? Not at all, never have, never will. But one thing that I am very sure of is that anyone, that says they know exactly what is going on falls into one of three categories, they are a flat out liar trying to sell you something, they are delusional thinking that they are bright enough to know all the answers, or they are a mouthpiece for some 'cause' or 'crusade', (where have I seen that word recently???), spewing their thoughts, (just as I do here), it's your job to get as many facts as possible and figure it out. If you want someone to always tell you what to do, what's right, what path to follow, you've taken the leap from being your own keeper to being something like worker bee. What is the entire story? Read all of the science then realize that if you read everything, you still do not have all of the pieces to the puzzle, you never will, because even that (the puzzle) is always changing.

Al's movie is titled 'An Inconvenient Truth', which reminds me of a quote: (Everyone groan together, not ANOTHER quote!) There you feel better now, right?

"In order that all men may be taught to speak truth, it is necessary that all likewise should learn to hear it." - Samuel Johnson

I have no problem with people trying to figure out what is going on here on our planet, but when it comes to people preaching to me, telling me to repent in a manner of speaking, I'm sorry your facts don't line up at all, and there are obvious pieces missing from your argument. So with all due respect, sit down and shut up.

From the NY Daily News Movie Review

What a bunch of biased tripe. Again I say I understand that the world environment is changing, but in every lie, in every falsehood, in every honest mistake there is some element of truth. To blindly follow one given path when you are obviously only using data that supports your theory, while ignoring or worse yet supressing other bits that would tend to discredit you and your theory.....as I said before, sit down and shut up.

You cannot see this film and not think of George W. Bush, the man who beat Gore in 2000. Bush has been studiously anti-science, a man of applied ignorance who has undernourished his mind with the empty calories of comfy dogma. For instance, his insistence on abstinence as the preferred method of birth control would be laughable were it not so reckless. It is similar to Bush's initial approach to global warming. It may be that Gore will do more good for his country and the world with this movie than Bush ever did by winning in 2000.

Where to begin? You blast the President when he wishes to use science to create new systems for the military to protect our country. You blast him when he wishes to use science to improve US manufactured vaccines, but he's an anti-science person? I guess because he also has faith, and I would guess the writer doesn't? I don't know. An "Undernourished Mind"? Yeah, he never went to school, he doesn't read any books at all, he's just a hick, not. "his insistance that abstinence as the preferred method of birth control would be laughable were it not so reckless"?? Last I checked the only documented birth resulting from abstinence (other than artificially done) would be Jesus, but then you don't believe in that either, do you Mr. Cohen. The inconvenient truth here seems to be the liberal folks yet again want to try to jam their ideas down our throats, aided by those that will, like Mr. Cohen that has all of the objectivity that is displayed in his byline.

Again, don't take my word for it, but at least go out and learn for yourself, if you want to follow one person, one cause, then go out and do so, but beware of the cliffs because lemmings tend to meet with little success around them.
